Christmas Comes Early for 11 Children with Special Needs in Murfreesboro

The Brentwood-based non-profit, New Life International (NLI) played a key role in making Christmas wishes come true for 11 special needs children. NLI donated 11 therapy bikes to children at Special Kids in Murfreesboro, Tennessee just two days before Christmas.

“I think that most of us can remember getting our first bike and how excited we were. However, most of these children have never experienced that joy as they need a unique bike that can be operated with the hands or the feet, which can be extremely expensive to buy. We were excited to have been able to bless these families at Christmas with these bikes that not only gave them great joy, it will help with the future development of these wonderful children,” stated Robby McGee, President of New Life International.

Stephanie Folkmann, Director of Marketing for Special Kids stated “Many families could not afford to purchase a bike like this for home use”. The total cost of the donated bikes is over $5,000. Bikes range in price from $289.00 to $599.00 each.

The bikes donated by New Life are called AMTrykes®. They are a unique tricycle which can be operated with the hands and/or feet and are designed to accommodate riders of varying degrees of physical limitations. The bikes help children benefit from improved motor skills and strength development.

New Life International provided these bikes through their humanitarian division, World In Need. New Life is a Christian, non-profit organization established in 1979, whose mission is to fulfill the Great Commission through evangelism, discipleship and humanitarian relief.

Special Kids is a Christian-based therapeutic rehabilitation and skilled nursing care facility in middle Tennessee.
